What kind of message have you been sending lately? We all send messages whether we like it or not. By the way we dress, the way we act, the way we talk, and the way we interact with others. So let me ask you again, what kind of message have you been sending lately? Is your life, the way you talk, and the clothes you wear an advertisement for the GAP or are you a living advertisement for Christianity?

D.L Moody once said: "Out of one hundred men, one will read the Bible, 99 will read the Christian." What do others read when they look at you? Can they see the fruits of the spirit evident in your life? Can they see a difference in the way you interact with your family, with friends, and with those less fortunate?

A few years back a friend of mine started coming out to youth group. While there she met someone she worked with and said: "I had no idea you were a Christian." He was so horrified by that statement that he vowed to be a living example for Christianity, so much so that there would be no one around him that would not be able to look at him and not see anything different.

Now I'm not encouraging you to beat people over the heads with a Bible, but allow them to see that there is something different and if they inquire: give the glory to God. For example, let's say your invited to a party by your friends. You know that it's not a good idea to go because of some of the activities that will be occurring there, so you say no. Now when your friends ask why you said no, don't just say I'm busy or I don't want to go. Use that question as an opportunity to witness through your actions. You don't have to say drunkenness is a sin and you're all going to Hell. Just lovingly explain why you believe what you do and why you've chosen to take a different road. Not only will you have an opportunity to witness, but also you will find that people respect those who have convictions and I'm sure that God will be smiling down on you.

So this week, why don't you spend some time examining what kind of message you are sending? And if you are working advertising for the GAP or the latest fashion trend, if I were you I'd quit. I know an employer who's looking for some people to work in advertising. The pay on this earth may not be great, but the benefits are eternal.
